Meet the Staff
Jami, Certified Ophthalmic Assistant and Assistant Office Manager
Jami has over 25 years of experience in Ophthalmology. She spent several years as a billing specialist with another practice prior to joining the practice in 2001. She was a patient coordinator and lead scribe for several years prior to obtaining her certification as an Ophthalmic Assistant in 2005. She truly loves her work, talking with the patients and takes pride in giving them the best care and time they deserve.
Jami was born and raised in Jacksonville and currently lives in the Baymeadows area with her husband, children and 2 dogs. In her time away from the office she loves cooking, home improvement projects, traveling and spending time with her family and friends.
Jeaneva, Patient Coordinator
Jeaneva is a Patient Coordinator at Riverside Eye and Laser Specialists. She joined our practice in 2004 and enjoys interacting with our wonderful patients daily. She performs a wide variety of functions in the office and her goal is to provide excellent customer service to ensure our patients are well taken care of and their appointments go smoothly.
Jeaneva was born in Ohio and moved with her family from Pennsylvania to Jacksonville in 1984. She and her husband have raised 3 children. She enjoys spending time with her adorable grandchildren. She is active in her church where she has been the treasurer since 1987 and she and her husband were the leaders of the youth ministry for 20 years. With their church, she and her husband have also had the privilege of taking multiple teams on mission trips to Haiti where they led children’s ministry programs and worked with food distribution programs.
Angela, Surgical Coordinator
Angela Ricks was born and raised in Jacksonville, Florida. She was a stay-at-home mom after having her 2 children and devoted her time to taking care of them. She then worked as an educator for several years where she had developed a passion for teaching and children. She began working at the practice in 2014 as a surgical coordinator. She enjoys helping patients through their eye surgery journey to better vision and making the process as stress free as possible.
She has 3 dogs that she absolutely adores. She enjoys watching crime scene shows and Marvel movies with both her son and daughter. In her free time, she enjoys the beach and shark tooth hunting, concerts and spending time with friends and family.
Melanie, Patient Coordinator and Diagnostic Testing Assistant
Melanie was born in Oak Harbor, Washington but has lived in Jacksonville her entire life and absolutely loves this city.
She graduated from Edward H. White High School and then attended FSCJ a short time before going to Sanford Brown Institute for Medical Assisting where she found her passion for being in the medical field. She came to the practice in 2017 and loved the idea for working for a small private practice where it just feels like “family” and getting to know the patients on a more personal level.
She has 3 daughters who keep her very busy, 2 dogs and 2 cats. She loves spending time with her friends and family, attending concerts and live events, attending sporting events, including the Jumbo Shrimp and Jacksonville Jaguars and vacationing.
She believes life’s too short and you should enjoy it to the fullest and that, “Attitude is Everything”.
Kim, Certified Ophthalmic Technician and Billing Coordinator
Kim joined the eyecare field in 1989 and has worked in many different departments over the years. She obtained her Certified Ophthalmic Technician certificate in September 1997.
Kim has been with Riverside Eye and Laser Specialists since 2004. She takes pride in making sure patients insurance claims are paid properly and in a timely manner.
In her spare time, she enjoys spending time watching her daughter dance competitively along with relaxing in the pool.
